The DAISY Award
The DAISY Award is a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care delivered by nurses every day. CHRISTUS Health System is proud to be a DAISY Award Hospital Partner, recognizing one of our nurses with this special honor throughout the year.
DAISY Award honorees personify the mission of CHRISTUS Health enhance community health through service with compassion, excellence and efficiency. These nurses consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care, and they are recognized as outstanding role models in our nursing community.
The acronym “DAISY” stands for “Diseases Attacking the Immune System.” The foundation was formed in November, 1999, by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). The nursing care Patrick received when hospitalized profoundly touched his family and they wanted to do something to thank the nurses who cared for him.
The BEE Award
The BEE Award is a nationwide award program that recognizes and rewards team members who work alongside nurses, including clinic receptionists, office staff, and medical assistants. BEE stands for "Being Excellent Everyday," and it symbolizes the important relationship between nurses and other support staff. Awards are given out periodically throughout the year.
