About

Dr. Stavinoha provides expert surgical and non-surgical evidence-based care for a variety of orthopedic conditions affecting the hip, knee, shoulder, foot, elbow, and spine.

He brings unique experience in both sports medicine and hip preservation surgery, including performing hip arthroscopy and periacetabular osteotomies (PAO) for the treatment of hip dysplasia, to San Antonio and the Central Texas region.

Dr. Stavinoha grew up in Central Texas, and completed his undergraduate education at the University of Notre Dame, graduating with honors. He returned to Texas for medical training at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.

Following the completion of orthopedic residency, he served as clinical instructor at Stanford University School of Medicine and completed pediatric orthopedic fellowship training at the Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Stanford Children’s Health.

He understands the physical and emotional complexities of injuries in pediatric and young adult athletes and dedicates his approach to evidence-based decisions. He believes surgeons must care for not only patients, but also their entire families throughout the process of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.

Dr. Stavinoha is fluent in Spanish and has travelled extensively through medical partnerships in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Haiti. He now travels annually to Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to collaborate with local surgeons to treat complex pediatric orthopedic conditions, as well as advanced surgical education in Central America.
